Coinvestment

National involvement and overall sustainability plays a big role in successful development, and in Paraguay there is potential to engage both labor and monetary investment in projects. We will be active in energizing affluent Paraguayans and campaigning for individual donors, hoping to convince them that projects will be completed properly and that investment in libraries is an effective way to advance the country. Paraguayans are often unwilling to part with their money because they have seen such great amounts disappear over the years, but an organization that has early success and demonstrable results may win their favor. On the other hand, the surplus of labor in Paraguay can be employed in projects. Paraguayan government workers, often discouraged by the support offered their insitutions -- without security guards or the funding to pay for library association membership dues -- are enthused by recent advancements and future plans. Training, expansion of employment opportunities in the industry, and tangible results would encourage these workers to work better and for the benefit of their institutions and other Paraguayans. Involvement of these workers in the formation and execution of development projects is, most importantly, about establishing sustainability.

Investment in the people

The best investment in any developing country is an investment in the people. We can invest in them by increasing the availability and quality of information, by providing books and resources that promote lifelong learning. From an educated populace come innovation, entrepreneurship, and social progress. Investment in libraries gives the opportunity to pass the development baton to the people, so that they can lead the charge for their own nation.
